The Red Shoes by H.C. Andersen is one of my favourite stories. I first came across it not as a wee girl but from my university years where I really began to appreciate good children's stories and how difficult they are to write.
Even though The Red Shoes is a grim, bloody story if i had children I know I would read it to them.
I am still desperately searching for a perfect pair of red shoes to dance like Karen.
"Dance you shall, from door to door, and where proud and wicked children live you shall knock, so that they may hear you and fear you! Dance you shall, dance—!"
red shoes on the internet.
I love these but OMG how would you be able to function in them. Apparently all the rage in Japan...
