What a Stella day

Gosh its been quite some time since I last posted. The internet here is suuuuuuper slow. I've just got back from a long weekend in Auckland and I bought some delightful treasures which I shall share with you soon. Today I was busy in the kitchen. I made a bolognase sauce for dinner and lamingtons for dessert.

This afternoon i treated myself to the new Stella Artois Legere, A premium low carbohydrate beer, whilst I took some snaps.

dress: handmade, cardigan: glassons, belt & shoes: thrifted, lipstick: maybelline plum perfect

Well the rain hindered me a little bit but I still managed to get some ok photos. I think I should be the new Stella Artois girl. What do you think?

a sweet little tweet

thats it, im officially hooked. I desperately want another tattoo. I've been creeping around the internet looking at beautiful tattoos and getting envious about those who are covered in so many lovely designs.

Originally I wanted to get a fantail on my left arm to go with my little monarch sparrow.

BUT according to Maori myth if a fantail flies into your home you should expect a death. I shouldnt let this put me off but I think I have. i've decided instead to get a little green waxeye done because they are native to NZ (and australia i think...), are similar to a sparrow, and it was the first bird i saw close up when I returned to NZ from the UK.

The Stepford Wife

shoes: Miss Divine, dress: East End Thrift Store, necklace: Topshop, sunglasses: New Look, apron: charity shop

AS I said in my previous post, last weekend was my baking weekend and I was actually rather pleased with myself. Usually when I bake I cant help but alter the recipe slightly and the results are less than desirable. But this time I stuck to the recipe and followed it religiously. The result: Some rather fine looking red velvet cupcakes which I took round to Liza's to have with tea and scones. Not a bad Saturday in New Plymouth after all.

What did you do this weekend? Anything fun?

p.s. my camera was doing weird things to me so I apologise for that strange streak in some of the photos

Little paper dolls

This weekend I've been perfecting my red velvet cupcakes. So far the best recipe I have found is from The Hummingbird Bakery cookbook. If you want to try your hand at baking these delicious cakes click here

Any who, the main reason I am posting about my baking is to share this sweet little downloadable paper doll template . These gorgeous little dolls can be personalised with scrap fabric or simply colouring pens and pencils. I used them as my cupcake toppers but the opportunities are endless...christmas tree decorations, labels, activities for children...im thinking of making a stop motion film with mine!

Thanks to Sarah from The Small Object for creating this. To download click here

and of course I used my cupcakes in a little outfit post which I shall share later on in the week. Hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

The Aviator

Shorts: Topshop, Blouse+Sunglasses: H&M, Jacket:dad's, shoes: Primark, Lipstick: Maybelline Plum Perfect

The great thing about being at home is I can play dress ups with my dads old clothes. I was rifling through the wardrobe in the spare room (now my room) and I found my dads old flying jacket. Isn't it terrific!

P.s I had a go at making a little GIF but I am too embarrassed to post it. maybe next time.

Twilight Hour

I am still adjusting to my new life here in NZ. So far, what I love most about living here is the beautiful quality of the air and light. Its so fresh and clean. Unfortunately I have returned in the middle of winter so it gets dark rather quickly. Before the sun finally set I managed to take a few quick snaps in my dads back yard...

dress: Vintage store in Bristol, Shoes: Topshop

I've been a bit slack with blogging lately because the internet here in NZ is incredibly slow! I've finally found a nice little spot at the local library which has free unlimited wireless so hopefully now I will be back to regular posting and blog reading.

a day at nana's

These photos were taken at early morning in my Nana's gorgeous garden. I'm so happy to be back in NZ where everywhere I turn there is a beautiful scene perfect for taking photos. It was freezing out and I dragged my little brother around the garden in order to get these shots. Thanks Luke!

dress: East London Thrift Store, cardigan: somewhere in Oslo, tights: Boots, Shoes:
Topshop

Oh how I love my nanas house. She was the one who inspired me to start collecting willow pattern china. I told her I had started collecting and now she has said I can have all of hers when the time comes! hurrah!

what a gorgeous lady

My fathers partners mother passed away early this week. I've been putting together a little slideshow of her life and I just had to share some of the amazing photographs of her. I didn't know her very well but this is my little tribute to a beautiful woman.
